When I go to festivals, I have a few staples that I always take which all go together – kind of like a capsule wardrobe in a bag! I like to make sure I can interchange what I’m wearing based on the weather so if it gets really hot I can switch to a pair of shorts but not have to change my entire outfit etc. Festival fashion is the perfect opportunity to wear whatever you want and be yourself, which I love.
Crop Tops & Checkered Shirts
Two of those staples are crop tops and checkered shirts. Not only are they both really comfortable to wear around all day, they go with shorts & jeans and LAYERS ARE IMPORTANT. I sound like my mum but honestly having layers means you’re prepared no matter what the weather decides to do which, at a UK festival, could be anything from sweltering sunshine to pissing rain five minutes later.
If ever you see me not wearing fishnets, I’m probably ill. I’ve lived in them for years and they always look sick under a pair of ripped jeans. I don’t often tend to take jeans to festivals unless I’m comfortable in the hope that the weather will hold out but sometimes it’s nice to have a pair to chill out in at the campsite.
Comfy shoes are a must. If it’s raining I’ll take wellies but I normally have a pair of trainers with me too – the ones I’ll be taking this year are my camo Vans. You’re going to be on your feet all day every day so while wellies are really the only thing you can get away with in the rain, a really comfy pair of trainers are great if it’s dry. I wouldn’t recommend slip on ones though if you’re going to the sort of festival where you’ll be moshing because you can lose them pretty quickly!
I always have a bag with me for the arena – normally a little bum bag if I’ve not got much on me because they’re so easy and convenient! This year I’ll also be taking this cute little sequin backpack because it’s just the right size to fit all the essentials like a bottle of water and suncream in, but it won’t get in the way if I’m dancing around.
Last but not least, a pair of sunnies! I got these two-tone cat eye ones from UNIF years ago and generally take them to festivals with me because they’re the cheapest pair I own to be honest – I wouldn’t want to lose or break one of my expensive pairs!
