Jeffree Star | Huntington Beach Review

I love weird lipstick. I don’t know what it is but I have no time for boring makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good every day brown/red/warm toned look, but I love rainbows. Jeffree Star’s Huntington Beach is the latest weird lipstick I’ve got my hands on and I’m living for it.

The Lipstick

Huntington Beach is now the sixth Jeffree Star lipstick in my collection and it was gifted to me by a friend for my birthday. All Jeffree Star lipsticks are cruelty-free, vegan and totally eye-safe. I love the fact that they’re eye-safe because it’s so hard to find a good liquid eyeliner in such bright shades. I use these every time I do one of my creative looks – they last so well!

I find when I wear them as an eyeliner I have to use a good eyeshadow primer then use a translucent powder on my eyelids to stop transfer. If you don’t have oily eyelids you might be fine skipping this step, but unfortunately I am *cough* blessed with oily eyelids so I suffer with transfer a lot.

The Wear Time

While they transfer on the eyelids, on the lips the lasting power is pretty unrivalled. Unless you eat a lot of greasy foods, they stay on pretty solidly all day. Only a little topping up needed in the centre of the lip occasionally is needed.

I have several blue lipsticks in my collection but not one as unique as this! Huntington Beach is such a beautiful teal shade and dries completely opaque and matte with one swipe.

The Applicator

Honestly the one main qualm I have about these lipsticks is I’m not a fan of the applicator. The large doe foot holds a lot of product which means you don’t have to redip! However, it’s quite a fluffy brush which I find hard to get a clean line with. That being said, I know a lot of people love these brushes so it might just be me!

One thing I realised when swatching it actually is that it goes beautifully with the Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in shade Coconut

The Price

The Huntington Beach lipstick was released in the 2018 Summer Collection, but is still on sale for £16 on Beauty Bay in the UK. Would you wear this shade of lipstick or are you more of a nude kind of person? Let me know in the comments!
