A lot of people know about my vast collection of lipsticks and shoes. However, while rooting through my makeup drawers the other day I came across a lot of lipsticks in my collection I’d practically forgotten I owned. I do have a habit of finding old things I wasn’t sure about and ending up loving them, so I thought I’d try it out with the lipsticks I never wear.
Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour – An Affair
To this day, this is the only Laura Mercier product I’ve ever owned, having never really had much to do with the brand. I honestly have no idea why I never really wear this lipstick – the shade is pretty, it’s a very comfortable formula and applies like a dream. The only reason I can expect is because I got it in a set and was never particularly excited about it, but I think this one might be brought back into my “regular wear” collection. That being said, I do have several shades very similar to this in my collection.
Colourpop Matte X Lippie Stix – Climax
I can’t actually find this on the Colourpop site anymore so I can only imagine the shade has been discontinued. I bought this on a whim but there are several things I dislike about it. While great value and I like the shape and precision of the bullet, the colour itself is quite streaky, it’s difficult to apply as it’s so matte and I just don’t think it suits me much at all. That being said, it is pretty comfortable to wear and I have several other Lippie Stix in the matte and satin formulas which I enjoy wearing.
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint – Yaassss
This lipstick actually came in the same set as the Laura Mercier one featured first. Unlike the Colourpop lipstick, there are actually LOADS of things I love about this. The brush shape makes for great, precise application; the formula is perhaps the creamiest lipstick I own and it’s SO comfortable to wear. The only thing I don’t like so much is the colour – I’m not sure the lavender shade suits me that much, awesome as it looks. I’d definitely be interested in picking up more of these from the range in different colours.
MAC Matte Lipstick – Cold Hard Cash
Cold Hard Cash is, confusingly, from MAC’s Colour Rocker Collection – confusingly, as it’s a nude shade from a collection deemed to be very colourful! This isn’t the only MAC lipstick I own from the limited edition range – I also grabbed Deep With Envy while I could which is a gorgeous green shade. Again, there aren’t many reasons why I don’t wear this very often – I own many MAC lipsticks and love nearly all of them. My issue with this one mainly is, again, the colour – I think it’s just got the wrong undertones to my skin tone to be a great-looking nude. That being said, the more I look at it, the more I quite like it, so what do you guys think?
Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick – Dr M
Last but not least, another Colourpop! Don’t get me wrong, I actually really like this lipstick. Again, great value
(of course, it’s Colourpop), not streaky at all, the shade is STUNNING and I love it for creating really bold makeup looks. The reason I don’t wear this one very often is it’s not the most comfortable of lipsticks at all. It’s very matte which is great if you want a matte lipstick but also it definitely feels like a layer to wear, if that makes sense. A lot of matte or liquid lipsticks can feel just like a second skin but annoyingly, this isn’t one of them. I still love it though!
