Pwer Festival Cardiff // Preview

You guys should know by now how much of my life I spend going to festivals and gigs, right? Festival season is fast approaching and I can’t wait – kicking things off in 2018 will be Pwer Festival, based in the heart of Cardiff, on May 6th.
Hosted at Gwdihw, Pwer Festival is the vision of two university students, Luke and Calum, curated and built from the ground up over the last year. Originally stemming as a joke about procrastinating from revising for uni exams by putting on a festival, the event is building up quite a stir throughout the city. Having been putting on gigs since 2016 as ‘Beers Over Tears’, Pwer Festival is the latest project designed to spark the power of youth in music.

Celebrating local talent, new and upcoming bands in the alternative scene across the UK and some of the best female-fronted bands around nowadays, the lineup is looking HUGE. Headliners False Advertising have racked up some impressive supporting slots for Everything Everything, The Amazons and Idles and made their American debut this year at a SXSW Showcase. Their mix of killer hooks and authenticity is seeing them really going places, with vocalist/guitarist Jen having recently been singled out by Total Guitar as one of the “Best New Guitarists In The World Right Now”.

Just announced today, Welsh national alt-rockers Dream State will be tearing up the headline slot over on the second stage. Having landed several festival slots already this year (2000 Trees, Download Festival and Slam Dunk to name but a few) as well as a massive supporting slot for Babymetal in Europe, these guys are really making a name for themselves with their latest single White Lies having already reached over 5 million views on YouTube.
With ticket prices ranging from £12-£14, Pwer Festival is an absolute bargain and not one to miss – grab your tickets via the link below and be sure to check it out on social media!
