Skinnydip London Petrol Satchel

Twitter is dangerous. I saw the gorgeous Holly from Witch Cake tweet about a Skinnydip London sale and next thing I knew, I’d made an order. Am I sorry?

Am I hell.

I first heard about Skinnydip ages ago, so long ago that I can’t even remember how they came onto my radar, but it’s taken me until now to make a purchase. Now when it comes to handbags, I have about three – a couple of fancy-ish ones for occasions, and one from Fat Face I’ve been using since I was 11. No joke, that bag has been in my life longer than most of my friends.

Thing is, I’m picky when it comes to handbags. I’m more of a backpack girl – ease and convenience is what I’m about, plus I can fit my life into a backpack, But sometimes you just want a small bag to hold everything you need for short trips out when you don’t need the kitchen sink, right?

So back to Holly tweeting about the sale. You know when people say they’re going to the pub for a quiet one and end up dragging ass back home at 4am, with no memory of the night they’ve just had? I kind of did that with the sale. I opened up their website and the next thing I knew, I was £20 down and had a confirmation email for my order. Oops.

To be honest though, I needed a new bag and this satchel is gorgeous, as well as reduced from £32. It’s a beautiful metallic petrol colour which is totally my aesthetic, and on the inside it’s got two open pockets and a decent sized zip pocket, which will henceforth become the tampon pocket. People with vaginas/periods, you know what I’m about.

The strap on it is both detachable and adjustable which I tend to look for in a bag and my favourite thing of all, it opens with poppers instead of actual buckles which is just so much easier. Buckles are cool and all, but when you’re trying to get something out your bag quickly they’re just a pain in the ass, let’s face it. It’s also got little metal feet on the bottom and I’m all over that protection of the fabric and HYGIENE.

I’m also going to give a nod to the quality here – it’s got the Skinnydip logo engraved into pretty much all the gold bar details on the bag and the material is really strong. It’s even sort of suede-ish on the inside, I’m not entirely sure what it’s made of because I can’t find the information on their website but I’m fairly confident this will last me as long as my trusty Fat Face bag.

This has become a staple in my wardrobe and I’m barely ever seen without it (partly because it’s my only handbag but partly because it goes with EVERYTHING I OWN and it’s just the right size. Do I love it more than people? Absolutely.) Take a look at some more photos below and let me know what you think!
