I have a thing for coloured eyeliners
– don’t get me wrong, black is a makeup bag staple which can’t be replaced, but I enjoy playing around with some brights. The lovely ladies at SVPR recently sent me these Soul Tree Kajal Liners
to try out.
This Ayervedic formula uses ghee and almond oil for the base and camphor for its cooling properties, making them easy to blend and totally natural so not irritating on the eyes. I don’t often have problems with products irritating my eyes, but as I wear contact lenses I do like to try out a natural product as and when I can.
Coming in a huge range of colours, I selected True Blue, Moss Velvet and Purple Haze as they’re along the colour scheme I like to play around with! Obviously they’ve rebranded the line a bit as the packaging is slightly different on one of the liners, but I think it’s quite nice and simple – pretty silver bullets which are quite lightweight!
These liners do apply very smoothly, although due to the oil base I’m not sure I’d recommend them if you have particularly oily eyelids! I’ve tried them out across a range of looks including cat eye, liner in the waterline, blended on the eyelid and as a base to apply eyeshadow over.
My favourite way to use them is blended on the eyelid and as an eyeshadow base – the colours look lovely in cat eye looks but unfortunately on my slightly oily eyelids I get some transfer onto the upper lid! They look lovely as bases though, the bright colours are gorgeous and can make a shadow really stand out and stick to the eye.
True Blue and Moss Velvet are really true to shade, but I feel Purple Haze is a bit of a let down – it’s not very purple at all, more of a burgundy-brown colour which is still a lovely eyeliner or eyeshadow shade, I was just hoping for more of a true purple!
These Soul Tree Ayurvedic Liners retail at just over £13.90 on their UK store each and can be found here
! Thank you to SVPR for providing me with them to try out!
