I don’t use the term perfect very often, but honestly it applies to the Maybelline SuperStay 24hr Dual Lipsticks. If I could afford to own every shade, I would.
I don’t often wear red lipstick but I bought this one on a bit of a whim. I’d seen them around in shops quite a lot and tested them out on the back of my hand, as you do. Having seen how well they lasted and so many good reviews I knew I needed to buy one myself. I actually intended to pick up a plum shade but it was out of stock so I ended up getting Eternal Cherry as I don’t own many reds – one of the only others I own is from the NYX Powder Puff range!
About the Maybelline SuperStay 24hr Dual Lipstick
The lipstick actually comes in two parts. There’s the actual lipstick in a liquid formula, and a balm to lock in moisture. There are over 20 shades in total and they retail for £8.99 each.
First you apply the liquid lipstick, then let it dry for a couple of minutes, and add the balm over the top. Reapply to balm as necessary throughout the day and you’re good to go! I love so many things about this lipstick. The formula is beautifully smooth and the shape/size of the doefoot applicator makes it so easy to get a nice clean line.
The liquid lipstick itself feels a little tacky while you’re waiting for it to set, but once you’ve added the balm it just feels like a really lightweight lip balm, except with gorgeous colour. Where some liquid lipsticks can feel heavy, or cakey, or just drying, you don’t get any of these effects with the Maybelline SuperStay lipsticks.
I’m not even joking when I say this wears better than any lipstick I’ve ever worn. Given that I’ve got close to 80 in my collection, that’s saying something. It’s comfortable all day, and when it drys a little (hardly at all) just add the balm for a little extra comfort. It’s matte, but not at all drying – actually I find it quite moisturising. The balm adds a gorgeous satin finish, but when it wears off it leaves a nice matte effect.
And I’ve put this lipstick through some real tests. I’ve fallen asleep wearing it on numerous occasions, eaten greasy food, worn it for 24 hours without the need for reapplication, kissed. You name it – I’ve put the lipstick through it. Transfer-proof, gorgeous colour for 24 hours (if not longer), and I genuinely think it can do no wrong. What’s more is that with some liquid lipsticks that last that long, it takes a lot of scrubbing to remove them. Not with this one – it easily wipes off with a makeup wipe or your choice of remover.
The shade I own is Eternal Cherry which I think is the perfect red lipstick for me. A beautiful cool-toned red is a staple in my collection. I don’t wear warm-toned reds often as I’ve got a pink undertone to my skin, so this works really well for me – but if you’re more of a warm-toned person, they have a great range of colours.
